A few weeks back, I met up with some friends for a bonfire on the North Shore (of Lake Pontchartrain). I’m not sure what made us think a bonfire in Louisiana in the middle of June was a good idea, but the smores were delicious and the sunset was even better. I’d say the experience was worth the 17 mosquito bites on the one patch of arm I didn’t cover with bug spray.
The beach was actually pretty decent and the water was nice and warm. It’s not the Emerald Coast of the Gulf, but at least it’s not covered in oil.
