All Saint’s Day

Where is the best place to go on a family outing for All Saint’s Day? The cemetery, of course.

It’s the best place for running…

or playing hide and seek.

The warm light was just perfect for pictures.

mikey and me

I took mom and Mikey to visit the mourning angel at the Chapman-Hyams vault. I always check to see if the doors are open each time I visit, but usually they are locked with an additional chain around the door handles. But we were in luck! and it was open.

The sun was setting just as we were about to go, leaving a warm orange glow.

I thought it was the “morning angel” in reference to the resurrection. Indeed, the statue was lovely and expressed the total grief of losing a loved one, i.e. the “mourning angel” in the lovely blue light. I’ll remember it always. Thank you, Katie, for a truly memorable experience. (I think the fresh yellow rose must have been left by someone who asked to have the door unlocked–hmmm?)
